ALASKA
Made it Haines Alaska!
The Alaskan Ferry dropped us off promptly at 4am! We headed over to Captains Choice Motel where we got a few hours sleep before our fresh Covid-19 test. Just one more roadblock to try and better our chances of crossing. As luck would have it we found the Chilkat Restaurant owned by Thai woman who came to Haines 20 years ago.
Great big Alaska Breakfast! Gonna make a Run for the Canada Border to cross into Alaska Proper. The rub is that they are only allowing Essential Travel or Alaskan Residents Only! Basically we are land locked if we cannot cross. The goal of this trip was to get the bike to Anchorage to return and Finish my around the world trip I started 15 years ago. Need Prudhoe Bay to Ensenada Mx. to finish my “Top to Bottom” 😎🌵Wish us Luck!

Deadhorse to Fairbanks!
560 miles of dirt and had it all to myself😎
Woke up to a drizzly morning. Never really mind riding in the rain but I hate loading my bike up in the rain:) Headed over to the Prudhoe General Store to get my proof of passage at the famous “Deadhorse” sign. Then out of town on the sloppy track to Coldfoot. Shitty all the way to the 5000 ft summit then sun peaked out and revealed itself and it got pretty amazing. Made great time and clear the 250 Miles and arrived Cold Foot around 3pm. Plan was to stay over night and then head to Fairbanks. But if I stay here and start drinking this early it’s gonna be a tough ride tomorrow! So I go! It’s one of the great advantages riding this far North, the sun is always calling you back to the road, egging you on to keep moving. The miles tick by quickly, what was sloppy two days ago is now some nice hard pack with just enough moisture to keep the dust down but some fun ass flat tracking around every corner for a hundred miles, smoked my new knobby’s! Made fast time into Fairbanks arriving at the famous Pike House Resort to a beautiful giant New York steak and few bourbons. Feeling pretty satisfied about the last couple of days riding and excited that one of the last big obstacles in completing my round the world trip I started 15 years ago is in the bag.
US Canadian BorderRead More
After a required fresh Covid-19 test in Haines we had a a beautiful ride up to the US Canadian border. We stopped at the US Border Station for some insight on the Canadian disposition and really what they said that it was hit or miss but you had better be an Alaskan Resident with proof or have a current job that requires you and only you to cross. (Trucker delivering goods) otherwise NFW! So we proceeded to The Canadian post where we ran into our New friend Mike we met on the ferry. He is returning home with his purchase of a giant metric cruiser he bought in the states. He has already been in line for over an hour. Himself and three others line. Mike says that they are not in any hurry. There are two agents working. One Blonde in all here regalia. Gun, taser, baton and Asian Guy, same. 1/2 hour later Mike gets pulled up by the blonde and shows all his documents. After a long discussion she goes inside and the Asian guy pulls us up. Very friendly in that Cop kinda way. “Hows your day” would like to get off your bike? Be more comfortable? What’s your reason for entering Canada? Oh... you thought you would just drive through Canada on your way back into the United States? NO, no and no!and What were you even thinking!
But wait there is more, he then disappears for thirty minutes while he writes up and enters us into “the system” my official denial into Canada 🇨🇦.While we are waiting Mike’s Agent returns to inform Michael that she will grant him permission to pass but that he only has to Midnight to get from here to the US border at Beaver Creek. Mike says that’s to far! And you have kept me here for three hours I could have been riding! She asked him sarcastically “Are you a Citizen of Canada? Mike replies “No” are you part of an indigenous Indian community? “No”
Then you have no right to be in Canada and she is only granting him passage and if he doesn’t cooperate she is going to deny his passage! Mike says I’m 70 years old you lady and I gotta Piss every hour or so ! And that takes 15 minutes to get all this gear off and get back on the bike. “Not my problem!” Says Agent “Last chance!” Plan B for me! Beautiful ride back to Haines and found Lynden Trucking. Connie greeted us with a smile and a solution! Ship my bike to my friends BMW dealership in Anchorage. Me and the wife air taxi to Juneau and take the next flight home. I will fly back to Anchorage in a couple of weeks and ride to Prudhoe.
“All part of the adventure tour!” In your best German accent!
